As parents you have substantial influence in both your child's life and the policies of your child's school.  Take time to get involved with the school in some way.  An inside perspective will allow you the opportunity to influence necessary changes and improvements.  It's important to create a partnership which enables the parent-school relationship to set boundaries for your child in meaningful and seamless ways.  What you expect from your child is very important, and understanding that these values and boundaries exist in their schools is important.  How do you participate with the adults at your child's school?  Would you consider chaperoning the Cardigan Mountain trip?  Volunteering for the Witch Way to a 5K road race?  Be a volunteer for the Stand By Me Committee?
