Celebrate Diversity

This week we take a break from the External Assets and focus on one of the 20 Internal Assets, specifically, "Cultural Competence".  Cultural competence is an asset within the category of Social Competencies.  We ask how many of our youth have knowledge of and comfort with people of different cultural/racial/ethnic backgrounds.   Part of our 8th grade curriculum at the end of the year is reading To Kill a Mockingbird  by Harper Lee.  The Students Against Destructive Decisions Club has begun a campaign here at Lurgio Middle School titled "Celebrate Diversity".  Five of the members posed for this picture and we love it so much we've made it into posters and posted them around the school.
