The district uses substitutes to cover for teachers, paraprofessionals and school nurses. When there is a need to increase the substitute pool, a position vacancy will be posted on the employment section of the website. All applications for sub positions are directed to a school administrator to determine if an interview is to be scheduled. If the interview is successful, the candidate will need to complete a background investigation check at his/her expense before receiving final approval to work.

Once someone has final approval as a substitute for the district, he/she will be notified of short-term assignments and may be contacted for long-term assignments as well.

Substitutes may fill in on a short-term as needed, or fill in for a long-term sub assignment (more than 20 consecutive days in the same position). Long-term teaching assignments require certification and HQT status for certain grades and subjects.
