Personalized Learning

Grant Recipients

We are excited to let you know that, after a difficult selection process with many outstanding applicants, the division is naming educators who will receive financial support to create personalized learning environments at their schools. Rather than support a division wide initiative for devices, the school board supported teachers who were ready to incorporate technology into their personalized learning plans.

2014 Personalized Learning Grant recipients include:

  • Huddleston Elementary - Jalenda Settles, Kelly Steele, Lisa Elliott, Aprille Monroe, Alisa Morton, Cindy Epperly
  • Forest Middle School - Rebeka Guzman, Cori Fairchild
  • Jefferson Forest High School - Debra Woodson
  • Bedford Middle School - Ashlie Hirschman, Heidi Overfelt, Rhetta Watkins
  • Bedford Elementary School -  Andra Bostic
  • Staunton River Middle School -  Melissa Neumann, Gwen Church

Students Speak:

Trailer

Recently, we took a moment to speak with our students about how they learn. Students explained a desire for more input in their education. They also told us that they all learn through different methods, and at different paces. Liberty High School Sophomore Luke Hunziker presented us with the essential question, “If we’re all so different, why should we all learn the same?” Take a moment to watch the full length video using the link below. Our students want personalized learning, and they want it NOW!!!
