The West Suburban Science League is based  in the Metro -West Boston Area and is composed of 20 teams competing in 4 events over a five month schedule. Meets are held on  the second Thursday of each month (October through February). Most teams compete in the Massachusetts Science Olympiad held in March.

General Information
  • All schools wishing to participate in the WSSL must email Scott Stief or Liana Heldman by September 20th of the current year; if there is space available in the league, we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • Each school/coach is responsible for coordinating and running a minimum of 1 event per year.
  • There are no dues to join the WSSL, only a commitment to run at least one event per year, and help event runners during other meets with event running and grading.
  • Some schools will need to host a meet every few years. The hosting school will assume all costs for hosting the meet.
  • Meets begin at 4:00 pm
  • Event sponsors should gear their events to last approximately 45 minutes – one hour. Try to keep the grading quick and efficient. We would like to announce the winners of each event by the end of snack (snacks are available for purchase provided by the host school). If you need help with grading, set up the scoring so other coaches can help.
  • All coaches need to help out with events. If needed, volunteers are required to assist  sponsoring coaches in running and scoring events.
  • B-Teams – If possible, events should accommodate B teams. In the event that you can NOT accommodate B teams, please let us know.
