Welcome to our class. This will be my 13th year in public education. I completed my bachelors degree from UNCW in history and my masters degree from UNCG in International Studies. For seven years I taught here at SBHS. Five years ago I left South and took a job with Brunswick County Schools working as an instructional coach. For that amount of time I was helping classroom teachers with classroom instruction and curriculum. In addition to my career in public education, I am an adjunct professor with Strayer University. I teach onsite and online courses in history, sociology, and humanities. In the summer, I work for a week for the AP College Board grading free-response essays for the AP Psychology exam. As a social studies educator 9-16, I do my best to model active involvement in my community. I serve as the elected President of the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies. I have annual opportunities to lobby for social studies education both at the state and federal levels.
