Sky Quest

Sky Quest (Knowledge Event)

Teams of 2 will demonstrate their knowledge of the solar system.

Materials to bring to event:

1.    Writing utensils only.

THE COMPETITION  (Teams will rotate through stations that assess the following topics)

1.    Identify the following:

a.     Sun

b.    Planets of our solar system

c.    Major constellations (*see list below)

d.    Major stars (*see list below)

2.    Understand the following stellar objects: (What are they?)

a.     Satellites (man-made)

b.    Asteroids

c.    Meteors (including meteoroids & meteorites)

d.    Comets

3.    Understand Earth’s:

a.     Seasons

b.    Tides

c.     Lunar eclipse

d.    Solar eclipse

4.    Phases of the moon

Aries, Aqaurius, Auriga, Bootes, Capricornus, Centaurus, Corvus, Cancer, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Delphinus, Eridanus, Hercules, Hydra, Leo, Lacerta, Libra, Monoceros, Ophiuchus, Pisces, Sagitta, Taurus, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Virgo
