Music Class at Home

Hi Everyone!
Just in case you would like to have some music fun at home, here are some ideas:

4th grade- Even though you don't have your recorder at home, look through your book and practice saying the notes and playing "air recorder" with the fingering of some of your favorite songs. You can also decide on a song you might do for your optional solo. If you took home the staff paper for your optional composition, work on it, bring it when we return to school and I'll be happy to look at it with you.

K-3 grades- Try to sing some of your program songs form memory. Do the movements, too!

All grades- Check out the Composer of the Month tab above and ask someone at home to help you listen to some music. Tell a family member what you remember about each composer.
Put some music on and dance!
With your family, watch a movie with music that was written by John Williams(Composer of the Month for February) and listen to and describe how the music adds to and helps to tell the story!
Click on the Learning Links tab above and check out some music websites.
Make a musical instrument from things you have around the house
Email me with any questions or any videos you take of yourselves having fun with music!

Be ready to work hard when we return to school! Our programs will be coming up soon!

I miss you all!!

Fourth Grade students will be learning how to play the recorder during second semester. Glenwood Elementary will continue to use the method book “Be a Recorder Star” during the 2019-2020 school year.

Students will be leaving their recorders and method books in the music classroom. We will be using them during music with whole class instruction, independent practice time, and small group and partner opportunities.

Reward System

Students will be signing their names on papers displayed in the hallway when they’ve achieved recorder goals set in the classroom.  We want to the whole school to see the amazing accomplishments these “recorder superstars” have achieved!
