Meijer Gardens: Art & Poetry

posted Feb 20, 2012, 6:02 AM by Molly Marshall   [ updated Sep 2, 2012, 9:31 AM ]
A group of 6th grade students were able to attend a poetry workshop at the Meijer Gardens last week. Students met a poet and heard her work. They were taken on a guided tour of the Deborah Butterfield sculptures in the gallery and given time to write their own poetry. It was so exciting to see students sharing their writing with one another and being able to use art as their inspiration for writing. There was even time at the end to see the butterflies and go outside to see some of the other sculptures. Thanks to an excellent group of chaperones we were able to attend this event, thank you for your support!
