MS All District Choir
Open on an audition basis for students in grades 6-8. Auditions are scheduled for the first Saturday in November. Students are selected to perform in one of two ensembles - Mixed Choir and Treble Choir. The District Choir Event is held in March.
DISTRICT AUDITIONS:
We will be holding auditions in-house at Read Mountain Middle School this year. Auditioning to be part of the District Choir Event is optional, but we will all be learning the audition song together in class at the school. I will be proctoring the auditions for the RMMS singers at Read Mountain MS during the first two weeks of November. I will be getting you more information as to how exactly this will happen as the time approaches, but students will be needing to make a decision and commitment fairly soon so they can be making serious preparation for the audition.
DISTRICT EVENT:
The 2022 Middle School District Choir Event will take place on March 5th at Auburn HS. By auditioning the students are committing to participate if they are selected to do so. You can think of the District Choir Event much like an All Star Team with the top singers from all of the middle schools in our district--it is an HONORS Choir. It is an all-day event with rehearsals in the morning and afternoon and then the day concludes with a performance for all of the parents at the end. It is a special event and truly is an honor for students to be selected to be a part of it. Auditionees will need recommendation from the director (me) regarding behavior readiness for an honors event.
COVID MITIGATION:
We have had numerous discussions as a District Choir Committee regarding our events and the safety of our students and their families. Much can change between now and March 5th, but, unless something changes, we will be implementing at least the same rigor of mitigation procedures as the Virginia school systems are executing at the time (masks, distancing, cleaning, etc). If procedures need to be even more restrictive than this, we will be working to come up with solutions as best as we can in order to calm fears and to keep people as safe as possible.
