Statement of Philosophy
It is my desire that each student develop a love of music and have an outlet for expressing that love.  Participation in a choir class can offer students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of music: history, theory, sight-reading, performance, etiquette, and singing as a group as well as solo performances. Music education improves students' academic performance, enhances higher brain function, and increases SAT scores.  Performing teaches the "habit of excellence," develops quick and decisive thinking, builds teamwork skills, enhances cooperation, and prepares students for the future.   "Teaching music is not my main purpose.  I want to make good citizens.  If a child hears fine music from the day of his birth, and learns to play it himself, he develops sensitivity, discipline, and endurance.  He gets a beautiful heart."   -Suzuki
