INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE PART TESTS AT HOME

Download the program "Audacity" onto your computer by clicking the link on that says ""Download Audacity 1.2.6" on the following website.  Follow the directions of the installation wizard.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Download the supplement program "LAME" onto your computer by clicking the link that says "Lame_v3.98.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe" on the following website.  Follow the directions of the installation wizard.
http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/

Open Audacity on your computer.  Make sure that your microphone is working by clicking on the record button (the one with the red circle in the middle) and speaking or singing in the microphone.  If the microphone is working, you should be able click stop and then click play to hear what you just recorded.  You can delete "tracks" by clicking the X button on the top left of the track.  After the microphone is working proceed to the next step.

Click on "Download" for the appropriate Part Test recording on the choir website under "Assessments" and save somewhere that you know where it is on your computer--perhaps on the desktop.  Drag and drop the recording file into the open space in the audacity program window.  The file should load in the program.

When you are ready, click the record button and sing your part into the microphone while the recording is playing.  Click on "stop".  When you are finished click "File" and then "Export as an m3p file".  Email this file to Mr. Bremner at jbremner@bcps.k12.va.us before the due date and time.
