Multimedia (audio and video) information processing of captured communicative events in face–to–face configuration. Proposed a framework to characterize the communicative events for better situation estimation and an intelligent automatic capture with multiple cameras and microphones.

Accomplishments:
Design and application of a new paradigm of a “communication atmosphere” incorporating a concept of mutual information estimation among different modalities with potential application to video archives search and indexing.
Microphone and camera arrays to adaptively capture communication events - a Smart Sensor Mesh approach.

Research and collaboration with telecommunications industry in Telecommunications Systems Laboratory in Institute of Telecommunications and Acoustics.

Accomplishments:
Involvement is series telecommunications and voice recognition industry collaborative projects which resulted in 21 technical reports delivered to customers and published by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.
Proposal and acceptance by institute’s scientific council of a PhD project for which Polish State Scientific Council granted a three years financial support.
Design and recording of a standard voice recognition database of 50 speakers called “speakerAIPSA”, which was later transmitted through various telecommunications channels and became a testing standard for various denoising approaches.
Design and application of a first video-on-demand and lecture-video-streaming environment called WaskTV in an academic network. Further merging of video-conferencing over ISDN and ATM. Creation of a multimedia laboratory test network for students based in ATM pilot network.
