William Wilson

Hello my name is William Wilson and I will be the Health and Physical Education teacher for BCA scholars in grades 1-7. I am a graduate of Nicholls State University in Human Performance Education. I am married and have three children.

My Vision for BCA Health and Physical education….

My vision is that every student, when leaving BCA, will be proficient movers, demonstrate strong character, collaborate effectively with peers, demonstrate knowledge of sports, and become advocates for family and friends in promoting the value of a healthy lifestyle.

Class information….

Each grade level will be aligned to the Louisiana State Standards for Physical Education. For the youngest students, the curriculum will be designed to give them a solid foundation through different motor skill games and activities. As your child progresses through BCA the focus will change from basic motor skills to learning a variety of different sports. Before leaving BCA, our oldest students will have the ability to prescribe customized and individualized fitness programs that address their overall fitness and athletic goals that will ultimately lead to living healthier lives as adults.

Grading for younger students will depend on their participation. Please talk with your children and explain to them that PE is not recess. Their participation is not optional. Sportsmanship is also an extremely important part of their participation grade. Their ability to show strong character and collaborate effectively with their peers will determine a large portion of their participation grade. Older students will also have fitness testing, skills testing, and written exams on the sports we are participating in.

Important information….

Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school.

Students are encouraged to wear the appropriate clothing for weather conditions. (They will not be able to stay inside if they forget their jackets. They will not be able to wear jackets in excessive heat. Tennis shoes must be worn even on dress down days.)

Students who are sick and need to be excused from PE need a note from home. If a student becomes ill during PE they will be sent to the nurse. If the nurse clears them to come back to class then they should participate.

Please remember to give the nurse your child’s medical history and if you feel like your child has any medical problems I should be aware of feel free to email me at wwilson@bcacharter.org
