The Polish National Energy Conservation Agency

The Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE) was established, following the Parliament resolution in 1994, with the aim to serve as a national sustainable energy agency. The mission of KAPE is to develop and implement sustainable energy policies in Poland successfully implementing EU energy policy into national energy sector, providing a wide range of sustainable energy services. KAPE carries out activities aimed at improving rational use of energy (RUE), promotion of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy related environmental issues and has a highly recognised position in domestic and EU market due to years long experience in international projects, well established  contacts within international network of agencies and experts, high level of professional interdisciplinary knowledge together with flexible structured project organisation and experienced personnel, deep knowledge of the EU/national legal and economic framework and programs are our advantage in performance of our mission and achieving our goals and allow for efficient co-operation with our partners.

KAPE has a separate department for energy efficiency in buildings and is very active in the building refurbishment process in Poland. Since 1999 KAPE verifies audits under the Building Refurbishment Program – in the framework of the Thermal Modernization Act. KAPE is currently engaged in the REQUEST project dealing with the quality of the refurbishment works and popularization of the building energy performance certificates. 

KAPE has also large experience in campaign based projects – Energy Bus, Energy Trophy +, KIDS4Future but also in commercial activities with cooperation with public administration, local municipalities, branch organisations eg. information campaign developed for the Ministry of Economy or for the power company RWE Polska (for their campaign “Świadoma Energia”). A large national project involving series of workshops on energy saving for municipalities, contests for schools and an energy saving competition for office buildings has been recently approved for the financing at the National Fund for Energy Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).
