Ms. Hallsted

Hi, I am excited to be your student’s art or Academy teacher here at Daybreak Middle School. I have a passion for both creating and teaching art. I personally love observing and illustrating nature and paint botanical illustrations. Beside creating and teaching art, I garden, do home remolding projects, try to be physically active with outdoor sports and dancing.

This year art students will be engaged in some amazing things. Your student will develop basic drawing skills, learn and apply color theory and create works of art that show form, depth and space.

They will use a wide variety of mediums such as graphite, colored pencils, pastels and clay.

I also sneak in some art vocabulary and make connections to other curriculums such as writing, math, social studies and art history.

My goal is to have students leave art with some creative problem solving skills, a highly sought after ability in today’s world.

For Academy students the goal is to help prepare your student to present what they have learned in their classes in a student-led conference at the end of the school year, along with helping them develop good citizenship.

It is my intent to work collaboratively with parents, so please look for emails that will be updating you from time to time about what your student is doing in class. Please feel free to email or call with any concerns or questions you may have.

Please go to my Class Expectations tab for more information about Art and Academy.

Under the Homework tab, I have a link that you can highlight and right click on that will take you to my daily planner that I update weekly.

Under the Class Photos tab, you can see some PPT’s of student work.
