I have been a teacher at Winder Barrow High School for 16
years. I completed my under graduate degree at the University of Georgia in
Business Education for grades 7-12 in 1996 and later added 6th grade
certification. In 2007 I completed a
Masters degree in Post Secondary Adult Education at Troy State University.
Finally, I completed my Specialist in Curriculum Development at Piedmont College
in 2012. I began my teaching career in 1996 at Stevenson Middle School in Stone
Mountain, Georgia. I taught there for 2 years and then moved back to where I
had student taught in college, Winder-Barrow High School. In 1999 I became the
lead adviser for the Future Business Leaders of America, a position I held
until school year 2006-2007 and later returned as co-adviser in 2014 a position
I currently hold. During this time the organization saw membership more than
triple, student participation in State Rally and summer and fall leadership
conferences increase, and members achieve recognition at Region and State
Competitions grow. I currently teach Introduction to Digital Technology and Business
and Technology but have taught Banking and Finance, Advanced Web Design, Desktop
Publishing, and Computer Applications I and II. My goals include continuing my teaching
career at Winder-Barrow High School while assisting the department’s Industry Re-certification
for the fourth time. I also intend to take advantage of yearly conferences and
training secessions in order to stay up-to-date with curriculum and
technological changes. I plan to continue active participation and support of
the WBHS FBLA student organization as well as continue other duties and
obligations such as Senior Sponsor and Student Council Adviser.
