Chris Deason

My name is Chris Deason and I have been in education since 1993. I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1993. My degree was a comprehensive major in social sciences. I did my student teaching at Ankeny High School in the spring of 1993. I was also an assistant coach on their state runner up boys basketball team. I then taught Social Studies, coached, and was the Activities Director at North Polk High School from 1993-1999. I was an assistant coach on state qualifying football and baseball teams as well as an assistant on a state championship boys basketball team in 1996. In the fall of 1999 I started at Ballard. I taught Middle School Social Studies for 6 years before moving to the high school level. I taught American History for 10 years. In 2014, I moved into the position of Director of Student Services. I completed my masters in administration in the summer of 2019. I was the men's basketball coach from 1999-2019. During that time the basketball program won 266 games including 6 district titles, appearances in the sweet sixteen 6 times, the elite 8 twice and the final 4 once. After serving as the Assistant Principal in 2020-2021 I was hired as the high school principal effective July 1, 2021.


I love to spend any free time at the Lake of the Ozarks I love relaxing by the lake, spending time on the boat, and hanging out with the family. My wife Lori teaches middle school social studies at Ballard. My son Isaiah is attending the University of Iowa and majoring in Business Analytics. . My daughter Sydney is a 2021 graduate of Ballard High School and will attend the University of Northern Iowa in the fall of 2021. She will major in early elementary education or social work.
