Race Unity Speech Award

To support Race Relations Day (21 March) and to celebrate the diversity of cultures and races in Aotearoa/New Zealand, a speech contest is held every year, sponsored by the New Zealand Bahá’í Community.

Rima Shinoy of Queen Margaret College in Wellington won both the Wellington Region Race Unity Speech Award and the National Contest for 2012.

YOUTH CAN CHANGE THE WORLD … TURNING THE TIDE OF RACISM….

“MA TE RANGATAHI, KA HURI TE AO”

“HE TAI RERE KI UTA, RERE KI TAI, MAKONA ANA TE WHAKAHAWEA TANGATA.”

The Race Unity Speech Award is sponsored by the New Zealand Bahá’í Community as a contribution to the Diversity Action Programme and proudly supported by the Human Rights Commission, the NZ Police and the Office of Ethnic Affairs.
