English 11R (121)
This course is based upon the New York State English curriculum for the eleventh grade. It provides a strong background and review in vocabulary, grammar, writing and reading skills. Readings are provided in a general text, as well as in many auxiliary examples of literature, as suggested by the State Education Department. The major examination is the English Comprehensive Regents which is administered in January. Students are responsible for a serious preparation for this examination, as well as for the various college entrance examinations. Students should be aware that, as in all other courses, the year will also end with a final examination. Therefore, students will earn six grades, four quarters and two major exams.
