Number 3 October 2014
October will be a very busy month once we return from Fall Break on the 13th. We not only have our Halloween evening on the 29th, we have two of our clubs meeting, make-up Picture Day, our annual Disaster Drill, and our 6th/7th grade dance. You will definitely have to keep this month's calendar posted close by.
Before I expand on the October activities, I'd like to thank our PTO Officers Ashley Sowers, Yadira Bautista, Isabel Fabela, and Kenya Thomas for all of their hard work with the fundraiser, Grandparents Day, and for giving our PTO a great start. We've also had many more moms become R.V. volunteers and have helped with several of the activities we've had thus far. It's great to see our kids getting great support!
I'd also like to thank Mrs. Bennett for presenting a parent education session for those interested in knowing how to access our online academic programs from home. We hope to be offering more of these type of sessions throughout the year.
This week, we have Make-Up Pictures on the 1st and our RV Greens Environmental Club meeting on the 2nd from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. We will have our student costume parade that same day at 9:30 a.m., leaving Halloween Friday as a non-event day. The last week of October will also be Red Ribbon Week for R.V. with the theme, "Love Yourself, Be Drug Free!". The students whose t-shirt artwork was selected by the R.V. staff and PTO members are: 1st Place - Kaylee Sowers, 2nd Place - Itzel Fabela, and 3rd Place - Jacob Sowers. Our first place winner's art will be on our new R.V. t-shirt! Our PTO will be sending home order forms soon. The last PTO fundraiser was very successful and I'd like to again, thank our PTO ladies for all of their hard work.
As you can see, we have a very busy month and I hope many of you will be able to attend our Halloween event.
