Number 8 March 2014
I want to start this letter by thanking Mrs. Loenhorst and Mrs. Briceño for organizing a great "Jump Rope for Heart" event. The kids had a lot of fun jumping to Y102 first thing in the morning. Our weather has been beautiful, so it was a great event for everyone!
Report cards went home last Friday and we are quickly moving toward the end of the school year. Although California has suspended our annual CST testing for most students, our 5th graders will still be taking the CST Science assessment. We may also have some grade levels piloting the new state Smart Balance test on the computers which our 6th graders did last year. This is basically just a sample of the 2014-15 school year test for students and teachers to preview. Scores will not be recorded or returned to the site.
The first week of March will be very busy for Rancho Verde with our new Talent Show - Spaghetti Dinner event taking place on Friday the 7th, and the dress rehearsal for the Talent Show on the Tuesday prior. We haven't had this event for several years, but it is a fundraiser and a lot of fun if you'd like to participate. The dinner consists of spaghetti, salad, a roll and a drink. Following the dinner and talent entertainment, there will be a dessert auction. Presale tickets are $5.00 each or a pack of 4 for $17.00. Tickets sold at the door will be $6.00.
The R.V. Greens Club will be meeting on the 6th after school and there will be Saturday Academies on both the 8th and the 15th. The week of the 17th will be our literature celebration with a Laura Ingalls Wilder Assembly on the 18th and Literature Day on both the 19th and 20th. Literature Evening will be on the 20th at 6:30 p.m., and we will have a Book Fair in the library that entire week. The Book Fair will be open for families on Literature Evening.
I hope everyone has a great March!
