Welcome!

My name is Lisa Schwoerke. I am one of the School Psychologists at Roaring Brook Elementary School. A school psychologist is a helping teacher with many different jobs.

On some days, I meet with children who would like to talk about something personal. Some children want to make a friend or solve a problem with a friend they already have. Some children are sad because school is hard or they had an argument with their friend. At Roaring Brook, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Chaback also meet with children. We meet with children individually and in small groups called social skills groups.

On other days, I might be working in classrooms with students or teachers. I spend time talking with parents and teachers about meeting the individual needs of the students. Teachers worry about whether children are learning while parents worry about all sorts of things.

Most of my time is spent working with children individually. Many children have different ways of learning information and I spend a great deal of time figuring out how children learn and if they need some specialized instruction in order to learn better.
