Avoca School District 37 Strategic Plan 2016

Based on the tenets of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Education Criteria and the characteristics of the Professional Learning Communities model, Avoca’s strategic plan is designed to be lived, not placed on a shelf for later reference.


Developed by a strategic planning committee composed of parents, community members, staff and district leadership, the mission, vision and core values shown here serve as the foundation for our improvement efforts.


While the Strategic Planning Committee and Board of Education set the direction and identify strategies, action plans and specific tasks will be developed by goal committees, building leadership teams, and teams of teachers under the support and guidance of district administration.


I encourage you to come back to this page often as tasks and action plans are added, complete with indicators of performance.

We have completed the important process of strategic planning for our school district. The result of this collaborative process is a long-range plan focused on continuous improvement, systematizing our practices, aligning our efforts and maximizing the unique potential of all of our students!

Last winter Avoca conducted a ‘system assessment’ facilitated by the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC) that focused on alignment to the research-based, best-practices of the Professional Learning Communities model and the Baldrige Performance Excellence Education Criteria. The System Assessment Executive Summary Report is posted on both the Board of Education's and the Superintendent's web pages.

The information gathered was used to inform our next strategic plan, which was facilitated by CEC.
