7th Grade Weekly Agenda

No-Phone Zone for the Month of May!

posted May 1, 2019, 6:08 AM by Colleen Kepner   [ updated May 1, 2019, 6:29 AM ]

ATTENTION STUDENTS AND PARENTS!

Let's be 100% present with each other and focused on learning for this last month of school!

Starting on May 1st, I'm implementing a zero-tolerance policy for cell phones in Room 210. If I see your phone, I'll take it up and lock it in a cabinet for the rest of the school day. (You may pick it up at the end of the day, or the next morning.)

Emergency communication can go through the main office (512-414-3214). Other communication, media use, and battery charging  must happen outside of class time. Chromebooks will be available and allowed for academic purposes.

Thanks for your cooperation! I'm looking forward to making the most of this last month with you. ( :

A Word About the Online Gradebook...

posted Sep 5, 2018, 10:46 AM by Colleen Kepner

The online gradebook can be a little confusing, and sometimes you might receive automatic notifications that add to the confusion! Allow me to clarify:

  • If an assignment is noted as "Missing," it means that the work was not submitted. This averages as a zero, and should be turned in as soon as possible.
  • If an assignment is noted as "Absent," it means that the student was absent on the day it was due. This does not affect the student average, but WILL begin to affect the student grade if it isn't submitted within the appropriate amount of time. (1 extra day for 1 day absent, 2 for 2, etc.) Make sure to speak with Ms. Kepner as soon as possible to account for that missed work.
  • If an assignment is marked as "Excused," it means that the student is not responsible for completing the work. This does not affect the student average.
  • If an assignment is BLANK, it means that the work was submitted, but that Ms. Kepner is still working on scoring the it. (This is common for written essays and more involved, subjective grading, like projects.) It's also possible that the due date hasn't yet come up yet.  Please be aware that the gradebook will sometimes send alerts that work is "missing" even if it's only because the due date has passed and the grade is blank. Disregard these notices. Blanks DO NOT affect the student average, and will update soon. Instead, check the gradebook for specific notifications and clarity.
