This is a picture of me and my mother, Kacey, at my wedding in April of 2015.  I was honored to wear the same dress that she wore at her wedding in 1977! My mom was an elementary p.e. teacher for thirty years; I learned so much from her about being an educator, a coach, and a mentor.

Dear Kealing Students and Parents,
Welcome to my website!  Thanks for checking it out!  I hope that you'll find this to be a useful resource for you throughout the year.
On the sidebar to the left, you'll find a number of different sections.  Most importantly, I have links to the weekly agendas and important documents for 7th Grade Magnet English, Harry Potter, and Young Adult Literature ("Teen Storytelling").  Be sure to visit the correct places for YOUR class.  You'll also see that the homework is listed with the weekly agendas!
Aside from the specific class sections, I have places where you can find out information about my class Wish List, the Kealing Ultimate team, and local literary events.
You may notice that there's a slideshow all about me in the "documents" section.  I figure that if I'm asking you to share things about yourself through your writing all year, it's only fair that I tell you a little bit about me first.  That slideshow even includes pictures from when I was in middle school!
2017-2018 will be my thirteenth year teaching middle school in AISD, and this fall marks the start of my seventh year as a Kealing Hornet. As a student, I love sports stories, contemporary American fiction, and girl heroes.  As a teacher, I really enjoy connecting fiction and poetry to popular media like television, film, and music. I pride myself on building a 'team' inside the classroom.
Outside of the classroom, I coach the Kealing Ultimate team in the spring.  I also help develop and promote youth ultimate all over the city, the state, and beyond through summer camps and leagues. I'm also the USA Ultimate Girls' Outreach Coordinator in Texas.

In my few minutes of spare time, I'm an Ultimate player, a singer, a wanna-be yogi, a writer of YA Fiction, a trial-by-fire cook, a live-music enthusiast, and a loyal Austin transplant!
I'm looking forward to a terrific year with all of you in Room 210.

Thanks again for visiting my website...Come back again soon!
