This framework is intended to serve 3 purposes: it represents a planning tool for our teachers, a coaching tool for our instructional leaders, and the social studies/history cycles for our residents. Ideally, it can be used at both a macro and a micro level--the macro level comes into play during unit planning, while the micro one can be used to plan specific lessons. In addition, while the framework is experienced by students in the linear order listed above, backwards mapping that takes into account the skills necessary for students to produce a high quality work product is essential.
