CONTINUED SUPPORT
  • Funding for the ACSS  program comes from a a grant provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Should NSF discontinue funding the program, then scholarships will also end.
  • All scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time at Augustana College.
  • All ACSS Scholarship recipients must have financial need, as determined by FAFSA.  This will be re-evaluated each year and requires that a new FAFSA be completed each year of the scholarship.
  • An ACSS scholarship recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in science and 3.0 in nonscience courses, which is assessed by the ACSS program director at the end of each academic term.  If the GPA for a given term falls between a 2.0 and 2.99, then the scholarship recipient is placed on probation for a maximum of two terms during which time the Scholar has two terms to achieve a 3.0 GPA in the term. In addition, the scholarship recipient will be required to initiate additional study strategies, based on discussions with the ACSS program director.
  •  A scholarship recipient whose GPA falls below a 2.0 for any term or does not show the required grade improvement while on probation forfeits the scholarship and can reapply for reinstatement when the science GPA of 2.8 or higher is achieved in two consecutive terms.
  • An ACSS scholarship recipient must be making reasonable progress toward a major in one of the sciences, with the intent to graduate with the science major.  The pre-medicine and neuroscience majors are not considered science majors.
