February 1st - Our Character Education trait for the month of February is Citizenship.   what does that mean?  You are a citizen of many places –

your classroom, your school,  your town and neighborhood,  your state and your country.    And of course the world!   Good citizens respect the environment and do things to make their communities better.  They also obey the rules of their classroom, school and the laws of their country.

February 2 - Be a good citizen by taking care of the environment.  Go Green!  Recycle!  Look at the beautiful world around you and do everything you can to preserve it.   

February 5-9 -  A famous anthropologist said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. …”   It is  individuals who make a big difference in the lives of others.  We can make a difference with a kind word, a smile, and a helpful attitude.

February 12-15 - Being a good citizen is standing up for what is right.  If you see someone being bullied, do something about it.  You can tell the bully to stop, let them know what they are doing is wrong, tell an adult.  This takes courage, be a hero, a good citizen and make a positive difference.

February 20-23 - This week we recognized President’s Day.  Remember that  “ Everybody can be great because we can serve. …”  What does that have to do with citizenship?   Well, if you see paper on the floor , pick it up;  clean up  without being asked; help others, be cooperative, work together.    Do the little things that can improve your classroom, school, home, and world.

February 26-28 -  As we end the month of February, remember a good citizen always does their best .  This not only helps you but also your family, classroom, school, community and world.
