Welcome to Mrs. Sutton's classroom page!

Hello Sugarloaf Families!

I’m looking forward to working with all of Team Sugarloaf’s families this year. I think we have a great team, full of energy, good thinkers and hard workers. I hope that you will contribute to this for the next two years.

I want to give you a bit of information about myself and my science classroom.  I have been teaching at AMS for 5 years and prior to that I worked at the Auburn Land Lab teaching science and outdoor education for 9 years.  I am excited to bring my years of experience doing outdoor lessons and group activities to my science classroom. I am also looking forward to sharing my love of nature and passion for recycling with students.

In my personal life, I am married to another middle school teacher - Mr. Sutton teaches at Oxford Hills Middle School.  We have two daughters: Mara is five, and Bronwyn is almost two. We have one dog and raise pigs, chickens and geese on our small farm.  I love to be outside, watch movies and play games. I grew up in Minnesota and went to college in Oregon, but I have lived in Maine since 2001 and love that we are surrounded by the ocean and mountains and lakes.

I hope to get to know you and your family quickly this fall.  We will be spending the beginning of the year working on creating a collaborative, productive classroom environment by revisiting the team vision and creating a classroom Code of Cooperation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Email is best, but you can also call me after school or leave a message.

Science Supplies 2016-17

CHARGED laptop

We will use technology to support and enhance our learning.

Box of Pencils

You will need a pencil each day.  Please bring one.

It would be great if you brought in a box of pencils for me. I will then have pencils for you and your classmatess!

Scientist notebook

(composition notebook)

Must be bound on edge. Not spiral bound. You can choose a grid or lined book.  We will leave these in the classroom to record our thinking and learning.

Useful for study times or using apps/videos in class.

Sturdy folder

or plastic envelope to hold current science assignments.

The Falcon’s Nest (school store) has many of these items to purchase!

Markers, tape, glue sticks, colored pencils, paper, scissors and other craft supplies will be helpful to your child for science projects, but are also available in my classroom during school.

Students will keep their finished work and their science notebook in the science room.  If you don’t see finished homework come home, it’s because we keep it here!

Questions? Concerns? Comments? Suggestions?

I put LOTS of information and notes in powerschool for each assignment. Please check there for more information about each assignment.
