Music education is important. Music is a language of its own, with written and aural components. Music also involves counting (sometimes very complex counting), physics, kinetics, history, and humanities. Music education provides a new learning framework and teaches new ways to think about and process everything else.
In General Music class, students will learn about rhythm, different time signatures and how to read notes and rests. They will also learn about a variety of different music genres, examining the music for its personal and cultural meanings. They will also learn how culture influences music, and how different periods of music reflect the culture of that time. In addition, students will understand steps and skips in music, tempo and dynamics, and understand different musical intervals.
Students will be learning these concepts through a variety of games and exercises designed to keep them engaged with both their bodies and their minds.
