Tami Hageman

Graduating Class of 1983

There are few students, that have walked the halls of Astoria High School, that earned 11 varsity letters in three different sports, earning all league recognition in all three, being voted MVP by her teammates her senior year, selected first all-state and unanimous all-tournament, selected the recipient of the Dr. Blair Henningsgaard outstanding scholar-athlete award and awarded one of the Billy Jean King All-Star Award for outstanding athletic performance presented by the USA Women’s Sports Foundation. That student athlete was Tami Hageman.

Tami started high school participation in volleyball, basketball and softball her freshman year. She earned her first varsity letter in softball that year and went on to earn three more letters in softball and all-league recognition. She was also voted, by her teammates, the most valuable player her senior year. Tami participated in volleyball all four years, but it took until her junior year to make the varsity. She would go on to letter two years and her senior year earn all-league recognition as well as being voted most valuable player her senior year.

If there was a sport that Tami really excelled in, that had to be basketball. Her sophomore year she was selected by Coach Davis to be a part of the most successful girl's team in history of the school. The 1981 team went on the place third in the state and was inducted into AHS Hall of Fame. Not only did Tami play a significant roll on that team, she also went on to play major rolls the next two seasons on Coach Davis’ teams that earned 8th place finish (1982) and 5th place (1983). Individual honors started coming Tami’s way starting the summer of 1982 when she attended a prestigious N.W. camp and was selected the most valuable player of the camp and best defensive player as well. Her senior year she was selected first team all-league, first team all-state, and unanimous first team all tournament.

Tami excelled academically as well at AHS. She was a member of the National Honor Society in 1982 & 1983. Awarded the Dr. Blair Henningsgaard Scholar-Athlete honor and earned various scholarships. She went on to attend Linfield College where she earned a degree in business administration.

While at Linfield, Tami participated in three sports. Her freshman year she played soccer for the Wildcats. Tami turned out her junior year and made the softball team. However, it was basketball where she felt at home lettering all four years. Starting part time her freshman year and becoming a full time starter her last three years.
