For over 40 years Lou Marconeri has contributed to athletics in the Astoria area.

Mentoring athletes of all ages, Lou has made a difference in this community. Lou served on the Astoria Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 1984-2007. The members of the board support promoting and advancing the parks and recreation system in our area. During his 24 years on the board Lou never missed a meeting. Upon leaving, Mayor Willis Van Dusen said, “Lou was a true gentleman and an asset to the community. Astoria is a better place because of you”.

Lou has contributed to Astoria High School for over 40 years. Since the 1970’s he has volunteered to be the voice of the Fishermen as the public announcer for Fishermen basketball games.

Lou has been a major contributor to the Astoria softball community. He has coached softball at the youth, high school, and adult level in Astoria for more than 30 years. Lou has coached at Astoria High since 2003. He first served as an assistant and from 2009 until 2015 served as Head Coach. Under the leadership of Coach Marconeri, the Lady Fish qualified for the post season in 2011 and 2014. He was named Cowapa League Coach of the year in 2014.

For over 40 years Lou Marconeri has contributed to Astoria athletes. For the time and the value of his service, Lou can also now be known as a member of the Astoria High School Hall of Fame class of 2016.
