Kammy Hunter

Graduating Class of 1993

Kammy arrived at AHS in the fall of 1989. In her first cross country season, she raced to both the district individual title and led the Lady Fishermen to their first of three consecutive district titles. At state, the Lady Fish placed 13th and Kammy placed 17th in the meet overall.

In the spring of 1990, she placed first in the 1500 at the district meet, along with 3rd in the 800. She was also a member of the state qualifying 1600 relay team. At state, she placed 13th in the 1500 meter and competed on the 1600 relay team.

In her sophomore year of 1990, Kammy was unable to run cross country due to an injury. The team went on to win the district title and place sixth at state. Had Kammy been able to participate, the team would have most likely garnered a top state trophy.

In the spring she was back on the asphalt and placed second in the 1500 and 6th in the 800 at the district meet. She went on to represent the league in the 1500 at the state meet.

In the fall of 1991 as a junior, she returned to cross country and again came home with the district title. She helped the girl’s team win their third consecutive district title and then went on to place 35th at state and the team placed 7th overall.

Kammy would be sidelined by injuries for the rest of her high school career, but she was always a great teammate and supporter. She also found time to be a cheerleader in the winter season, supporting the Fishermen on the hardwoods.

Kammy is currently living in Kentucky with her husband, John of 24 years, and her daughter and son. She works as a training manager for Hunt Military Communications. We will always remember what she brought to the Fishermen runners in her tenure at AHS.
