Josh Long

Graduating Class of 1993

A four sport varsity athlete, Josh Long is among the most decorated athletes in the long, proud tradition of Astoria Fishermen athletes. Best known for his cross country, swimming and track accomplishments, he also played soccer. In swimming and cross country, he would be voted Most Valuable by his teammates five times.

In cross country, Josh helped lead the Fishermen to State Championships in 1990 and 1992, and a second place finish in 1991. Josh achieved All-League honors in 1991 and 1992 and was the individual district champion in 1990. At the State Championship, he placed eleventh, sixth and second to capture All-State honors all three years.

In track, Josh won the 1500 and 3000 meter Cowapa League championships in 1991. He then won the 1991 State Championship in the 3000 meter in a time of 8:58 becoming only the second Fisherman runner to that date, to run under nine minutes. In 1992, he placed third in the State Championship 3000-meters.

In swimming, Josh helped lead Astoria to Cowapa League Championships in 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993. He won the league championships in the Individual Medley and the Butterfly all four years and was a member of three league championship relay teams.

In cross country, swimming and track, Josh raced in the State Championships nine different seasons. Individually, he won a staggering 14 league championships (including three relays), sixteen All-League awards, five All-State Honors, and one state championship. In addition, he was a member of two state championship teams and one runner up team.
