Jeremy Snow

Graduating Class of 1994

Jeremy Snow established quite a name for himself as an outstanding two sport athlete during the early 1990’s. Jeremy did so while participating in a rather unusual athletic combination: soccer and baseball, and he thus becomes the first to be enshrined as a soccer player (as well as for his prowess on the baseball diamond) in the prestigious Astoria Athletic Hall of Fame.

Jeremy played a vital role in the early years of the Fishermen soccer program, displaying great ability as well as outstanding practice habits and in game tenacity that helped formulate the way the Fighting Fishermen would play the game in future years. It was as a member of his teams that the pride and tradition in playing soccer were established. Snow was a stalwart for four seasons on the pitch beginning in his freshmen year of 1990. He won multiple All-District and All-Cowapa League awards. Three times Jeremy was an All-District performer. Twice he was All-League. He tied for the lead in points scored in the district during his senior season, a season in which he was also accorded Second Team All-State honors and a season when he was named team captain. Highlighting his career were two appearances in the OSAA State Soccer Tournament as well as playing in an All-Star Soccer game following his graduation.

Jeremy also played a major role during his three year stint as the starting catcher for the Fishermen baseball nine. It isn’t often that a sophomore plays such a key leadership role as the catch plays, but his skill level and savvy made him the right player for that job. He certainly didn’t disappoint Fishermen fans with his play behind the plate. His defensive skills as well as his offensive work with the bat led Snow to be named All-Cowapa first team during his senior season as well as First Team All-State, which, in turn, allowed him to play in the prestigious North-South All Star Series played each June in Roseburg, Oregon. During that senior year, Snow’s batting average hovered around .400 with an on-base percentage of over .500 hitting early in the Fisherman lineup.

Jeremy excelled in the classroom with a four year grade point of 4.0 and was one of the four Valedictorians of his class. He also served one year as the treasurer of the Associated Student Body of Astoria High School. Snow later attended and graduated with honors from Willamette University with a degree in chemistry.
