Jeff Chan

Graduating Class of 1988

Jeff had a very distinguished golfing career at Astoria High School. He played on the varsity team during all four years.

On the golf team, Jeff participated at the State Golf Tournament every year, and was a three-time District All-Star, and a three-time Cowapa League All-Star. During the four years that Jeff was on the varsity squad, he and his teammates never lost a Cowapa League Match. While Jeff played on the team, the squad earned the following State Tournament finishes: 5th in 1985, 3rd in 1986, 4th in 1987, and 4th in 1988.

At the conclusion of his senior golf season, and because he was the top senior (2nd Individual Overall) at the State AA-A Tournament, Jeff earned the opportunity to compete against the top senior from the AAA level for the right to travel back to Connecticut and represent Oregon in the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Prep Golf Championship. Jeff earned that right by defeating his opponent by one stroke in a tough battle at the Illahee Country Club (Salem).

After graduation in June, his dedication and determination was rewarded as he traveled to the East Coast and represented Oregon in the national event.

Jeff earned another distinguished award before graduation by being selected as the recipient of the Cowapa League Scholar Athlete Achievement Award. He earned this for his achievements in the classroom (3.67 G.P.A.) and on the course.

After high school, Jeff enjoyed playing in local amateur golf events and went on to have a successful career working for Nike Inc.
