Jeanne Maddox Peterson

Coach and Contributor

Dance captured Jeanne at a young age and as a result, she has spent her lifetime dedicated to teaching dance and owning Maddox Dance Studio where she has taught dance skills to hundreds of future dance team members.

Jeanne started and has coached the Astoria High School Dance Team Pizazz for over 25 years. During that time, she and her teams have performed at numerous athletic events and have accumulated numerous awards. Jeanne has been recognized by the Dance Team Coaches of Oregon as Coach of the Year in 2001 and followed that with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. Her teams have won State Championships in 1991, 1993 and 2005 and have placed in the top five every year but three out of her 24 years of coaching at state competition.

Her dance teams have also excelled academically, placing first in Oregon with the Dairy Farmers Academic Award twice, second twice and have placed in the top ten for twenty years. Several of her team members have received All-State recognition and have been recipients of Oregon Coaches Scholastic Awards.

Raised in Astoria, Jeanne is a 1954 graduate of Star of the Sea School.
