1986 Boy's Golf

The 1986 Astoria High School Boy’s Golf Team were an amazing group of talented golfers. They rolled “undefeated” through the Cowapa League, and then earned their way back to the State AA-A Golf Tournament (after a fifth place finish in 1985).

After the first day at state, the team was only eight strokes out of first place, but faltered during the second day when they were forced to play with only four players, due to a disqualification.

The team finished in third place, shooting 322-334=656. Out of the 65 golfers competing, Sean Patrick earned “All-State” honors by his fifth place finish. Steve Hauke finished tied for twenty-first place; Jeff Chan came in tied for twenty-third and Scott Shelton was in a tie for twenty-seventh.

To date, (Induction Class of 2016), this is the most successful boy’s golf teams to have come out of Astoria High School.
