Friday, June 8th : Nike Combine @ Mercer Island High School - See Coach RUB if interested in attending this combine designed for college coaches to evaluate the potential of current high school sophomores and juniors

2012 Track Participants: Track Awards will be Monday, June 11th at 6:00 P.M. in the AHS COMMONS

 There will be a Key Club meeting in the auditorium on Thursday at lunch. We will be honoring our seniors with awards and signing up for Relay for Life. We invite all Key Club members to participate in this last meeting of the year.

 The last AHS National Honor Society general meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 11:30am (lunch) in Room 213. Presentations of gold cords will be made for the senior members. Juniors will make plans for next year. All members are expected to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Amelia Fitch or Ms. Billett.

All library books, calculators, net books, and textbooks were due yesterday. Please return them and pay any fines owed. There are no more checkouts for this school year.

The Oregon School Activities Association has recently released the names of the schools that have received recognition for their spring athletic teams and competitive activity groups for maintaining team grade point averages greater than a minimum of 3.00.  Astoria High School is proud to announce that all of its spring athletic teams and the school's competitive choir group have been recognized for this achievement.  The following provides a list of each team or group with their respective cumulative GRADE POINT AVERAGE:

 

Softball - 3.68 GPA

 

Girls Track - 3.57 GPA

 

Girls Golf - 3.32 GPA

 

Boys Golf - 3.28 GPA

 

Boys Track - 3.21 GPA

 

Boys & Girls Choir - 3.17 GPA

 

Baseball - 3.08 GPA

If you are interested in representing your club or activity during the 8th grade visitation day next week, see Andrew in the counseling office by this Thursday, May 17th, to sign up and get more information.

 

AHS will be offering summer school this year from June 18th to July 13th.  This is a credit recovery program -- if you have failed a class and would like to make it up through summer school, please stop by the counseling office for more information and an application.  There is limited space available.  Students will be accepted in the order that they sign up and arrange payment.

 

If you are interested in the Astoria Boys Basketball Summer Camp pick up a registration form in the office.

 

If you borrowed a Prom Dress from the Counseling Office or the Assistance League, please return it to the Counseling Office by the end of this week at the latest.

 

If you would like to be a Fisherman Fanatic, Web Master, Class Rep, or take part of any other leadership position , stop by the office and fill out an application.

All students (except the leadership class) who are going rafting this coming weekend MUST attend a MANDATORY meeting in the big gym during BOTH tutorials on Tuesday, May15th.  No excuses, no exceptions.

Learn about this topic and more from Jenny Bell, Biological Technician at Fort Clatsop National Park, at the Tuesday, May 15 Upward Bound Get Inspired career presentation.  The presentation will be held during lunch in Jenni Newton's room.  Please bring your lunch.

 

BLofT:  Plan to meet on Wednesday, May 16th and learn who our Business Person of the Month for April and May are and our Business Person of the Year!  We will also be electing officers for next year and recognizing the Best Dressed Guy and Gal.  RAFFLE too!

CCC Bound Seniors: Advisers from CCC will be on campus on Wednesday, May 23rd to meet with you.  Please sign up in the counseling office to be scheduled for a 30 minute appointment.  This is a great opportunity to talk about your educational plans and figure out which classes you should take in the fall.  If you haven't COMPASS tested, you need to do so before this date.

  

Seniors:  Only a few spots left in the Senior Dedication section of the 2011.2012 Zephyrus!  See Ashley Park, Brooke Reichert, Karla Suarez or Mrs. O'Bryan for more info.  Deadline is Friday, May 18!

 

   Need help in math? Mrs. Kinman will be available after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:25-4:25, (Thurs. 2:25-3:25) In the Library. This is a great opportunity to get extra help to pass profiencies and upcoming finals.  Prom is coming, so listen up! This year’s theme is “Black Tie Masquerade.” Tickets are $15 single and $25 per couple. Formal dress code required. Prom is Saturday, May 12th from 8:00-11:00 PM at the Liberty theatre.

 

Do you still need a Prom dress?  Stop by the Counseling Office to see a large selection of new and lightly used dresses available for loan.

Don’t miss out on the Astoria High Spring Olympics!

On May 11th from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the AHS gym. We will have indoor soccer, basketball, flag football and dodge ball.
