If you are interested in the medical field, join the Health Club!! The first meeting was on Tuesday, November 12th in room 427 at 3:00pm. As a member of this club you will meet different professionals in the medical field, have a medical professional as your mentor and be part of many opportunities offered by hospitals and health organizations. You will also take part in organizing the spring health fair on campus. Don't miss this opportunity. See you there!!

The Pre-health mentoring program was created by medical and graduate students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine who wanted to reach out to high school students interested in health careers. The main goals of the program include advising a pre-health club with students from both ACA and CIMS as well as organizing an end of the year school health fair. Through the mentoring program, high school students will gain experience with health career options, leadership, networking and direct mentoring from medical and graduate students. If you are interested in health careers or learning about the different possibilities, feel free to join the pre-health club.

Bus Safety is important for all students.  Click on the bus to take a quick and review all that you have learned on how to be safe.

 University Partners with Astor
Astor Collegiate Academy is very pleased to announce a new partnership with the University of Vermont. UVM has been affiliated with several of the schools on the Columbus Campus for quite a number of years.
The UVM/ACA partnership will provide ALL students at our school with greater Early College Awareness and a foundation about the college process on which to build.  Each grade will be provided with workshops in classroom settings given by members of the UVM team, which is headed by Deborah Gale, Associate Director for Diversity.   All of the workshops and activities are relevant for any post-secondary institution, not just UVM.   Ninth graders will fill out The Common Application, including writing a college essay/personal statement. Sophomores will learn how to build a college list. Juniors will have a workshop on Financial Aid and the seniors will be helped with college applications and all questions related to the next step.  (Ms. Trapido, Astor’s College Access Counselor, will also be going into the classroom, supplementing the UVM partnership.  Before senior year, every Astor student will have filled out at least one or two college applications and written a college essay.)

Every year, ten students per grade will be selected to travel to Burlington, Vermont to tour the UVM campus and learn more about that college and colleges in general.   JetBlue is an integral part of this partnership and we are grateful to both UVM and the airline for what they will be providing to us.   Thanks to the University of Vermont we will be an Early College Awareness school with our students “college ready!”
