Disrupting Learning- Holly Clark

Disrupting Learning - Holly Clark

I think Holly Clark is right.  We have to disrupt learning.   We as teachers need to go beyond.   We need to be learners first in order to understand and know students as learners.  We need to adjust instruction in a way that will allow us to meet student’s needs.  We need to listen in order to understand and deep know their needs. We need to make learning fun to have students engaged and excited about our class.  To give opportunities for students to own their learning by giving them the chance to participate more, to allow them to ask questions and to provide students with new skills so the can be fluent in al mediums of information.  So Let's keep on Learning. Let students explore.     Let's all learn having fun!!!

PART II Blended Leaning at Science Lab

For me blending Learning at the Science Lab has been an amazing ride. Everyday is an adventure
For my Kinder Students as an introduction to the Unit of movement, I read to them an interactive story that I created in which they helped the characters in the story to move. Also little scientists experimented movement in a roller coaster with Google Cardboard.

TECH Tuesday at ASFM

posted Apr 20, 2016, 10:44 AM by Georgina Berlanga

At ASFM we're always trying to find the latest innovations and techniques that will enhance and improve student's learning.  Every Tuesday all teachers and administrators meet for professional growth. This year we started implementing Blending Learning (BL). This Tech Tuesday was about reflecting by teams about BL, about our challenges, successes, and what are new steps regarding BL.  We had to choose one Tech tool to share our experience with all ASFM Elem. staff.
We got together and had the opportunity to share, to discuss and to create a 1 minute video to share it with everybody.
We chose Animoto which is a video maker because its an easy way to create a HD video in a short period of time.

New Challenge-3rd grade

posted Oct 28, 2015, 9:06 AM by Georgina Berlanga   [ updated Oct 30, 2015, 9:34 AM ]

  • For me everyday is a new challenge, a new experience because students from different grades go to the science lab for the hands on of science

As a Science teacher I’m always trying new forms to experiment and have students engaged to become better learners.

To have students experiment in a way that they can participate and have an important role in the experiments.

This week I took a challenge and decided to try a new experiment with 3rd graders that I used to do with them with a rolling car to test Friction under different surfaces (paper, rug, plastic, cloth).

This year the students had the opportunity to perform and participate in a different way. They took the place of the rolling cars.

We went outside to the playground to slide down trying different surfaces to experiment and feel friction.

They really enjoyed the experiment and had a better understanding of what friction is by having a main role in the experiment, by actually being

    part of the experiment.
