I am so excited to be returning to Rogers Park and Airport Heights this year! We will be exploring a variety of topics related to art history, aesthetics and criticism, art careers, and studio processes according to the following curriculum themes:

K - Art and Me
1st - Art In My World
2nd - Creating From Within Myself
3rd - Art and the Environment
4th- Art From Many Cultures
5th - Art as Communication
6th - Art's Impact on the World

 Students in grades 1st-6th earn effort-based grades in Art. 
Grades are based off of three main components:

  • Spring has sprung in the art room! Start planning for summer
    Kindergarteners are welcoming spring with art based on the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar! First, catperillars...next, butterflies!

  • Youth Art Month is Almost Here!
    "NORTH" is the theme of the 46th Annual Anchorage School District student art exhibition at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with National Youth Art Month, an acknowledgment of the visual arts programs in American schools. 

    The community is cordially invited to attend the:
    Artists' Reception, Friday, March 2, 2018 from 6-8pm
    The reception is to honor artists from all exhibit locations. Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and Museum Director Julie Decker will speak at 6:30  Admission to the reception is free.

    Exhibition Sites and Dates:
    • Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, March 2-April 8
    • Anchorage City Hall, March 2-April 6
    • Chugiak-Eagle River Municipal Library, March 2-April 6
    • ZJ Loussac Municipal Library, March 2-April 6

  • Art in the Ed Center
    Congratulations to Kaelen E., Meredith D., David S., and Kaven H. on a job well done! Their artwork was selected to represent Rogers Park and Airport Heights in this month's Ed Center art display, which will be up until March 23rd.
