Dina Berman - Artist Statement

Ever since I was a child I was fascinated by miniatures. I would spend hours creating houses, or using bits and pieces of wire, paper or anything I could find to build my own toys. Over the years my work became smaller and smaller. In the match's I carve I am constantly moving from creating images that portray a sense of stability, and on the other hand transportation, movement. I try to learn through my work about staying in one place, whether it is on an island, or as a rocking horse that can not move, and also about the fragility of this choices.
