Chris Ann Ambery - Artist Statement

Saturdays with my grandfather were always an adventure. They usually involved a few busses, a subway or two, and often ended up with a ride on the closest carousel. I remember standing in line sizing up the carousel horses. The horse I chose had to be beautiful, majestic and above all kind looking. I would never choose a horse that looked angry or scared. The Carousel would begin to move slowly, up and down, round and round, faster and faster it would go until horses, rounding boards and lights would begin to blur and all become part of one another.
