Superintendent’s Bio

John Shannon Arrington (Coach A.) was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Shannon and Debra Arrington. Coach A. graduated from Garrison High School in 1991. He then attended Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences with additional hours earned in English, History, and Communications. In 2001 he earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from SFA.

After serving one year with Elkhart ISD as a teacher/coach, he was hired in June of 1997 by Arp ISD in the same capacity. For the past 22 years at Arp ISD he has served in various roles, including teacher, coach, and administrator.

Coach A. began his administrative duties in November of 2001 as the interim elementary principal at Arp ISD. He served as the Arp Elementary principal from 2001 until 2005, after which he returned to Arp High School as a Communications teacher and assistant principal. In 2015 Coach A. became the Arp High School principal, and in January of 2018 Coach A. was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Arp Independent School District.

Coach A. and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 17 years and have three children. AJ is 15 years old (10th grade), Fisher is 13 years old (8th grade), and Case is 11 years old (6th grade).
