Testing

Texas Law rerquires a TSI Assessment or an approved alternative test for all non-exempt students prior to enrolling in any college-level course work. The TSI tests is a computer-adaptive test measuring skills in reading, sentence skills, essay writing, and math.  Based on your scores in one or all parts of the TSI, you may be required to emroll in developmental education coursework or accelerated intervention before you can enroll in a college credidt course for the subject in which you did not do well.  In some cases, you may be allowed to enroll in a developmental intervention and college-credit course at the same time.  
Arp High School offers the TSI on campus for Arp High School students--free of charge.

The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success.  It is also used as an entrance exam for individuals desiring to enter the military.  Arp High School offers this exam on campus to juniors and seniors each year.

The Preliminary SAT/Natoinal Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board.  The PSAT is a good indicator of SAT performance and covers three areas:  critical reading, math, and writing.  Arp High School offers this test on a first-comefirst -serve basis.  Participating students will also be given online addess to a personalized study guide to be utilized on the SAT.
