History

Welcome to World History!

This course, year one of a two year world history sequence,  covers the origins of the modern world.  We focus on leadership, government, religion, and citizenship through many different societies, from the Ancient World through the Middle Ages, and the beginning of the Modern Age.  Topic areas include; the Fall of Rome, Byzantine Empire, Origins of Christianity, Rise and Expansion of Islam, Medieval Europe, Renaissance and Reformation, Sub-Saharan Africa, Dynastic China, and Medieval Japan.  The goal of the course is to provide students with a strong historical foundation and research and analytical skills to be successful in future learning and understanding the contemporary world.


SUPPLIES
Students should have the following supplies by Monday, September 11th 
  •    Blue or Black Pens 
  •    A highlighter
  •    Colored pencils (can be kept at home)
  •    A large notebook (at least 150 pages) for notes 
  •    3-ring binder (can be shared with another class)
  •    A silent reading book in case you finish early
