With the Labor Day Weekend almost finished, it's time to think about the format for the Fall personal appearances. We're streamlining the live shows to pack more music and stories into the timing of the productions. Look for rapid costume changes, too. We're building some fun entertainment with great improvements for our regular followers. Also, keep an eye out for more stuff that we will be posting on

Creating Music

With all the work that we're doing on CD production, it helps to visualize what is happening when music is created. There's some interesting ideas about composition that I posted over at the Kent Courtney Music blog.  Check it out at:

Mixing and Sub-Mixing

After singing for two Masses for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Hanover, PA, we jumped back in the studio to lay down some more rhythms for the upcoming CD.  We just had our mixing desk repaired by Jesse Betlyon in Jefferson, PA.  His brother, Dick, is a good friend, too and tunes our piano.  When we re-installed the mixer, we did some re-routing of all the synthesizers into our Kawai keyboard mixer, then forwarding that mix into a stereo channel on the mixing desk.  That way we can separately add some digital delay and push the keyboards through a compressor/limiter to avoid over driving the keyboard channel coming from the Kawai sub-mixer.  It sounds pretty good with a minimal noise floor.  It makes shelving a little easier, too.

After having mastered a short, Live CD, for release to venue managers, Metrograde continues to work on original music for their CD.  Kent Courtney says that the most important task to tackle is organizing their material and pre-producing the songs one-by-one.

Most of 2011 season booking operations are underway, solidifying a touring schedule that includes stops from Oregon to Maine.  It can be quite a juggle to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to see Metrograde perform live.

The best of the live recordings of Metrograde has been put together for a demonstration of what they can really do live.  As soon as enough copies are printed, they will start to be mailed and handed out to booking agencies and venue operators to organize the 2011 season.

Picking Out the Tracks

The best of some of the recordings that Metrograde has recorded are being gathered together for a demo CD to represent what they can do live.  It's important that Fairs and Festivals know exactly what a band can do when they perform.  A live CD is a great way to showcase the real talent of a band.

The 2010 Season produced some really good video, photographs and recordings of things that Metrograde has done.  Giggles, laughs and OMGs make the experience of going through the material a joyful and sometimes emotional experience.  Thanks for the memories :)

This has been one of those hard-working Christmas Seasons where we long for rest.  We love all the parties.  Really, we love the parties.  But, NO MORE JUNK FOOD.

The kids are sounding great.  They soak up music like a sponge.  It is such a joy to work with the beautiful, enthusiastic voices.
