THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR:
As I begin my sixth year as principal of Arcadia Elementary School, I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by child centered instruction and decisions, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, excellent communications, and recognition of both student and staff achievement.
This past year we were presented a couple of awards by the State of Wisconsin. We received the Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition for "beating the odds." We were also acknowledged as a School of Merit for our work accomplished through the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which is our school wide behavior management system. These awards would not have been accomplished without the hard work of our students and staff as well as the wonderful support of our parents and community.
Education and safety receive the highest priority in all that we do and in our school community. We strive to implement best practices, integrating social and academic learning in every aspect of the school day. By teaching and reinforcing expectations, routines and our school rules, of which there are three, we believe students can best focus on their most important job of learning.
If you have any questions, I encourage you to contact myself or any staff member. We would be happy to assist you in any way we can. To keep you informed as much as possible, we will be sending home monthly calendars and newsletters of upcoming events and of our breakfast/lunch menu. The first calendar/newsletter will be sent out Friday, September 9 , 2016 and then on the last Friday or each month thereafter.
Finally, WE strongly believe that children are most successful when parents are involved in their child’s/children’s education. We hope that through the combined efforts of home and school, your child will thirst for knowledge, skills and learning. We welcome your support and engagement and anticipate building upon your success as the initial educator as we “Inspire Learning; Empower Learners.” Have a great year!
Yours in Education,
Paul A. Halverson,
