Saints Place 3rd at Great Lakes Challenge

– The men's cross country team placed 3rd out of 34 schools at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge hosted by Aquinas College. The competition, which is held at Riverside Park, is the largest all NAIA meet in the country and drew teams from 38 different schools.

The Saints, who are currently ranked 10th in the country, were defeated by #3 St. Francis and #6 Shawnee State. The Saints finished with 99 points, while St. Francis lived up to their #3 billing and won the event with 50 points.

Sophomore Grant Gunneson paced the Saints with a 7th place finish in a personal best time of 25:16. Stephen Glinski (25:28) and Brendan Moloney (25:45) followed Gunneson home in 11th and 18th respectively. The combination of Dan Foley (32nd - 26:05) and Jeff Cherry (39th - 26:15) rounded out the scoring for the Saints.

The Saints will switch their attention to the conference championships in two weeks.
